Budapest

Okay so,

Budapest is really, really, really fucking cool. To be honest its in my top 3 cities in europe.

And maaannn thats a hard list to crack. Okay enough fucking around.

So, budapest, somehow managed to avoid the Nazis sorched earth policy, as i was saying in my previous blog, which means there is so much to see here. Like just your avereage buildings are really impressive let alone the actual touristy sites your supposed to see.

The opera house is beautiful, caked in gold leaf and standing three stories tall of some of the most intricate and stunning stonework i have ever seen. I guess what im trying to expess with all this stuff is the suprise factor of it all. I guess, becuase i have been through poland and slovakia where most of the beauty has been replaced by either communist concrete blocks of flats or alternatively massive steel and glass capitalist highrise bloody office blocks.

But Budapest has none of that action. All the facades of every buliding are completely intact, and thanks to the period of the Austro Hungarian Empire, all the architechture is incredible. The cathedral here is the single most impressive building i have been in in my life. And yes, i have seen the sistine chapel, St Marks in Venice, St Pauls yadda yadda yadda. I mean it doesnt take the sistine chapel roof. But thats in a leauge of its own. Look. Come to Budapest. See it for yourself. Then well talk.

Another bitching thing is the Baths. Budapest has a whole heap of natural springs. The most underneath a capital city in the world i am led to believe. The Baths themselves, well there are a couple, the main ones have an unprenounceable name...so im not even going to bother... ANYWAY. They are housed in this...well to be honest it looks like a palace. Massive place, has about 20 different pools inside, ranging in temprature from about 15 degrees to 38 degree pools. With like, medicinal pools filled with special salts and shit to like whilpools. We must have hung out there for about 3 hours. Just pool hopping. Bitchingly cool.

Its also INSANELY cheap. I mean our hostel ended up being pretty expensive. But is probably the best hostel i have ever been in. For being able to stay in one place and see a city it was top notch. The resturant across the road, for three people with drinks for a massive dinner. Cost us 12 euro! Awesome. The Party scene is pretty cool, we only went out a couple of times becuase i have been pretty sick so we waited till i got better before we hit some pubs.

But along with a couple of English lads, we hit up some really good pubs. Cheap booze, some incredible djs. One of our best nights out, we ended up coming back to the hostel with a whole heap of booze, buying glow sticks, and sitting in a hostel room in the dark, cranking up some tunes and having our own sweet little rave party at like 3 am. It was totally cool.

Ive missed so much stuff... the castle district, the pool halls, the terror museum, the worlds second biggest synagoge in the world... but all i can say is. Make some time, come to budapest. IT is totally fucking awesome. Great people, good history, culture, architechture and its cheap!

Right so today. Off to Corfu, to the pink palace. Shit is about to get real. The pink palace is the most hectic party hostel in hte world. No question. So you probably wont hear from me for the Next six days, till i am in my hostel in london. There will be a lot of stories from Corfu So get excited people!!!! In the meantime. I hope your all well, and as we draw to a close on these european adventures, have all had an epic holiday.

Get the beer on ice, and meat on the barbeque, cus everyones favourite Pat is going to be coming home soon!!!

peace
Pat
